One More Letterbox Find!

This was our third find in one week. We went with some of our friends we met through our homeschooling program and this was just as much fun as our first and second finds. In fact, this time we got a special bonus- a park ranger saw us rummaging around for the box in a group of trees near his vehicle (the box was hidden right where he was parked). He approached us and offered to show us a dead gopher snake. All the boys yelled, "Yeah!!" So, Ranger Bob gave us an educational display and lesson on snakes around Lafayette Reservoir.

Kate was facinated by the snake. When we walked away from the snake she kept saying, "Thee. Thee." That's her way of saying "See" or "I want to see it some more."

We ended up hiking over a mile just to get to this box. All the kids were hot, sweaty, thirsty and tired but the hike was well worth it because the kids were so exicited to find the hidden box. It was as if we had found a real treasure box!! They were running around and jumping all over the place. It was hard to get them to pick a spot to sit down so they could open the box and log the books.

Our friends from the left: Cameron, Matthew, Dominic, Kristen, Zion, Kate, & Jared. Cameron's sister Mackenzie got tired after hiking for over one mile so she turned back with her mom. Suzanne (Dominic & Zion's mom) took the picture.

We're looking forward to our next hike!! We're hoping to get out at least once or twice this week! Anyone want to join in? I'd love to know if any of you out there end up looking into this exciting and fun adventure!!
