WOW! I just had an uplifting and spiritual day and I feel like a better women, wife, and mother. I had the privilege of attending the "Time Our for Women and Girls" conference today with Dave's two sisters and their daughters. It was GREAT and I wanted to share a few quotes that made me ponder my life (and of course some pics).

Quote from Hilary: "Worry about how others feel when they are with you. Not how you feel when you are with others."
Abe Mills- Singing member of "Jerico Road"
Thoughts from Abe: "Dare Not to Compare"- his whole talk was about how we should not compare ourselves to others and we need to appreciate ourselves as Heavenly Father would appreciate us. We need to realize that we have so much to offer our families, communities, and this world. We just need to let go of the, "not measuring up to others" and instead, make our our measurements compared to where we've already been. I love this because it made me think about my own progress compared to me, not anyone else.
Jane Clayson Johnson- formerly on CBS- The Early Show, CBS- The Evening News, 48 Hours, ABC- World News Tonight with Peter Jennings & Good Morning America.
Quotes from Jane: "Our prophets have told us that standards are not negotiable." This will come in handy when I have teens!
Also from Jane: "The choices you make now will influence the choices you can make later." Very fitting for me right now since Dave and I are in the midst of making some important choices right now.
Not pictured but well worth listening to was Laurel Christensen. She asks, "Who the heck are you?" Then answers that question with this one, "Who does God think I am?" She said to say this statement and fill in the blank with words that you would want associated with yourself. "I am Gods ________________________ daughter!" Ex. "I am Gods kind daughter, loving daughter, confident daughter, honest daughter, funny daughter, etc." Then learn to believe it and live it!!
Lastly, but certainly not least, John Hilton III (a religous educator & EFY speaker). His talk was titled, "Three Things I want my Little Sister to Know About Guys." One of the main points of his talk was that we as young women and not so young women should have high expectation and standards for ourselves as well as the boys & men in our lives. We should expect to be treated kindly, spoken to respectfully, and assumed to keep the standards of the gospel. He told a story about a "cool" 17-year old boy going to a church dance. Just before the dance a neighbor called and asked him to take their daughter (she was 14 or 15). He agreed. Once parked at the dance, he jumped out and quickly made his way to the entrance, and then suddenly realized the girl wasn't with him. He trucked back to the car where she was still sitting. He opened her car door to ask if something was wrong and she quickly said something like, "Thank you for opening my door. That is so nice!" They then walked together into the dance. I like this story because it's a great example of what I want my boys to learn to do when they are with girls. Any of you have hubby's that open your door?
